*QUILTING AGAINST THE ODDS
Saturday, June 6

11:00

Toni Foster
*EVERY QUILT TELLS A STORY
Quiltmaking is a very personal pursuit for Toni. Her quilts often spring from the need for a gift, an idea that begs to become a quilt, an antique quilt or a happy accident. She will share her quiltmaking journey beginning with a few early quilts from the 1970’s along with her latest work. You will want to hear the story associated with each of them; Toni’s work is beautiful, and her soft humor in story telling is a wonderful treat to hear.

Mary Mashuta

*COLOR: TOO MUCH IS NOT ENOUGH

There is no "one right answer" to your color dilemmas. The good news is, there are many right answers. Mary takes the mystery out of the color wheel and even invents a new color scheme. Fun pictures of painted houses and cars illustrate how you can learn about color and design in the world around you.

3:00

Janet Berlo

*JAPANESE INFLUENCE IN QUILT DESIGN FROM 1876 TO THE PRESENT
From the sensation caused by the Japanese displays at the Centennial International Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876 which helped to launch the “Crazy Quilt” fad to the excitement felt by contemporary quilters when we find just the right Japanese fabric for our work---this lecture will look at how quilters have adopted and adapted Japanese aesthetics and Japanese fabrics into an American quilting tradition.

*YOU CAN NEVER OWN TOO MANY STRIPES.
Mary bills herself as one of the foremost buyers of stripe fabrics in the country. It doesn't make any difference what color, size, or style a stripe is. She says, "If it isn't nailed down, I'll buy it." Stripes are great in both traditional and contemporary quilts as well as wearables.

Special Guest  "A Quilter's Life"

We are holding tight to what this special hour holds, but we know you will be delighted to hear this talk.
